INTRODUCTION

The South African Flyball Dog Association (hereafter referred to as SAFDA) was established in 2004 to promote the sport of Flyball in South Africa. SAFDA is affiliated to the South African Working Dogs Association (SAWDA), which is the umbrella body for several Working Dog disciplines in South Africa. The rules focus on the running of Flyball Tournaments. For information on the organisation of SAFDA, refer to the document 'South African Flyball Dog Association Constitution'.

PRINCIPLES OF FLYBALL TOURNAMENTS

Flyball is essentially a spectator sport involving team knockout competitions. The main elements of the sport are good sportsmanship and fun for the dog and handler. It is a sport which is open to all dogs, regardless of their pedigree.

HOW TO JOIN

Joining SAFDA is a simple process, but involves two separate applications. This is because the registration of the dogs is done via our parent body, the South African Working Dogs Association (SAWDA). Owners and handlers of registered dogs must also be paid up members of SAFDA in order to compete at all trials. The registration of the dog is a one-off payment, while SAFDA membership fees are renewable each year in April.

Please download both application forms (there is space for registering up to three dogs on a single SAWDA form).

Complete the forms and forward them to your regional director with the correct amount (see form for fees payable). Please note that two cheques are required should you be using this form of payment.
